i cant figure it out...i have never ever understood this!!
When the tide is in....is it in there, or in here? like is it in where we are or in there hiding?
and the tide is out? that means its out there or out here? like does it come out to meet us or does it go away out there?
i have seriously never known!

The tide comes in to the shore as it raises in height due to the gravitational pull of the moon (and a couple of other factors)... if I'm remembering my stuff.
Imagine the oceans as a duvet, when you pull it towards your head, it moves away from your feet, the duvet itself hasn't changed weight but rather your pulling has changed its shape and position.
