One for the rant list...
So, Edinburgh Uni contacted me this week. They informed me that 6 of my 8 highers do not count as they were more than 2 years ago.So they won't be offering me a place!
This makes me feel a little bit annoyed!! No-one ever informed me that these qualifications had a use by date.

Hi Sam,
So frustrated for you! I know what it is like to be burned by Uni red tape.
BUT, this does not mean that you are any less deserving or any less intelligent than you were five minutes before Uni called. If you want this degree then keep going, scout out other Universities, contact Edinburgh Uni and ask them how you can fix this, just do what you need to do, because life is way too short to not reach for and grasp your dreams! (Wow, I sound like a motivational speaker, sorry for that, but I still believe in the message!)
From a practical point of view, if my Uni experiences are anything to go by, Edinburgh Uni's handbook will have a section that states that all rules can be over-ridden, to a degree, if the Dean feels you have the capacity to complete the course. If necessary, arrange an interview with him/her, what have you got to lose.
Anyway, as a distant cousin (probably) I have faith that this is a small stumbling block and not a dead end. You just have to keep going and find the right path. You can do it!
